BetMGM Launches New Jersey, Michigan Shared Liquidity

BetMGM Poker has recently launched a new interstate online poker network in the United States, connecting its player pools in New Jersey and Michigan. This move allows players from both states to participate in the same poker games, marking the creation of the third interstate poker network in the US. The only other existing networks are WSOP Online, which links New Jersey, Michigan, and Nevada, and PokerStars, which connects New Jersey and Michigan. WSOP Online is the sole online poker room available in Nevada.

The US online poker industry has seen significant activity in recent months, despite only a few states legalizing online poker and even fewer having active internet poker rooms. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro has instructed the state’s Gaming Control Board to begin negotiations to join the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA), with the aim of completing the process by the end of the year. This potential addition of Pennsylvania to the agreement could lead to an expansion of networks by WSOP, PokerStars, and BetMGM in the state.

In addition to this development, BetRivers recently launched in Pennsylvania, marking the introduction of a new online poker room in the US. The relaunch of Run It Once Poker under the BetRivers brand has generated excitement in the industry. Furthermore, DraftKings has introduced its lottery sit-and-go product, Electric Poker, in both Michigan and Pennsylvania.

Looking ahead, there are indications of further expansion in the US online poker market. BetMGM has expressed interest in launching a second online poker room in Nevada, with plans to do so by the spring of 2025. The company also offers online casino gaming in West Virginia, suggesting that poker may soon become available in that state as well. Additionally, the launch of BetRivers in Pennsylvania could pave the way for online poker to return to Delaware, which has been without an online poker room since the change in iGaming providers in 2024.

Overall, the US online poker industry is experiencing a period of growth and development, with new interstate networks being established and the potential for further expansion in the coming months. Players can look forward to more options and opportunities to participate in online poker games across different states.
