The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has imposed a $7,500 fine on live casino game studio Evolution following an incident in January 2023 where a trespasser gained access to the studio in Philadelphia and exposed himself in the women’s locker room. The PGCB requires visitors to such studios to sign in upon entry and wear a name badge while on the premises to ensure the security and safety of employees and the integrity of the games.
Evolution admitted that the incident was a result of human error, a poorly designed studio layout, and a failure to follow proper procedures. In response, the company has made several changes to improve security, including enhancing sightlines, hiring an additional security officer, and switching security companies. Additionally, extra training has been provided to employees regarding shift changes to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The trespasser, who had no connection to the company, managed to bypass multiple security checkpoints and roamed around the facility for approximately 17 minutes before being apprehended. He engaged in inappropriate behavior in the women’s locker room and made inappropriate comments to female dealers. Security removed him from the premises and contacted the police, but the man’s identity remains unknown as he was not identified by Evolution and the police were unable to locate him.
The PGCB emphasizes the importance of companies being discreet and security-conscious in their operations to prevent incidents like this from occurring. By imposing fines and holding companies accountable for breaches in security, the PGCB aims to maintain the integrity of the gaming industry and ensure the safety of all individuals involved in live casino operations.
