Flutter’s PokerStars, FanDuel Form Hockey Partnerships

PokerStars, a prominent brand under Flutter Entertainment, recently announced a partnership with the NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers. This collaboration allows PokerStars to become an official sponsor of the team, with advertisements displayed at the Wells Fargo Center and during game telecasts. Additionally, PokerStars players will have the chance to win Flyers tickets and autographed memorabilia through poker tournaments and sweepstakes promotions on PokerStars Casino.

This is not the first time PokerStars has ventured into NHL sponsorship. The brand already has partnerships with the Detroit Red Wings and Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment in Ontario, which owns the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Raptors. With real money poker sites in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Ontario, PokerStars continues to expand its presence in the North American hockey market.

On the other hand, FanDuel, another major brand under Flutter Entertainment, has teamed up with the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL). FanDuel has been named the Official Sportsbook Partner and exclusive In-app Streaming Partner of the PWHL, allowing the streaming of up to 90 regular season and playoff games on its app. Fans can also engage in sports betting on league games through FanDuel.

General Manager of FanDuel Canada, Dale Hooper, expressed excitement about the partnership, highlighting its role in enhancing fan engagement and increasing the visibility of women’s professional sports. The PWHL, established last year, consists of six teams: Boston Fleet, Minnesota Frost, Montreal Victoire, New York Sirens, Ottawa Charge, and Toronto Sceptres. In the league’s inaugural season, Toronto topped the regular season standings and chose to face Minnesota in the first round. However, Minnesota emerged victorious in the series and eventually claimed the Walter Cup by defeating Boston.

Overall, these partnerships between PokerStars and the Philadelphia Flyers, as well as FanDuel and the PWHL, signify a growing trend of collaboration between prominent sports brands and the hockey industry. By bridging the gap between sports entertainment and online gaming platforms, these partnerships aim to enhance fan engagement, promote women’s professional sports, and expand the reach of both the NHL and the PWHL. As the sports and gaming industries continue to evolve, such collaborations pave the way for exciting opportunities and experiences for fans and players alike.
