Jay-Z recently participated in the grand opening of the new Fanatics sportsbook retail location at the Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City. The event took place on Sunday, with Jay-Z being accompanied by Fanatics Founder and CEO Michael Rubin and two-time golf Major Championship winner Justin Thomas.
The new 12,000-square-foot facility in Atlantic City officially opened its doors on September 5, just in time for the start of the NFL season. The launch event featured a large number of betting windows and self-service kiosks, as well as a spacious lounge and bar area for patrons to enjoy.
During the ceremony, brand ambassador Justin Thomas placed the first ceremonial bet at the sportsbook, wagering $100 on his alma mater Alabama to win the college football national championship. Jay-Z was also in attendance, seen smoking a cigar and participating in an exclusive $250,000 blackjack tournament. It is worth noting that Jay-Z is a frequent visitor to the Ocean Casino Resort, having hosted a blackjack fundraiser event at the property last September which attracted notable celebrities such as Tom Brady, Kim Kardashian, and Kevin Hart.
As an investor in Fanatics since 2021, Jay-Z has expressed his plans to open retail sportsbooks in collaboration with his exclusive 40/40 Club. This initiative aligns with his vision to expand his business ventures and provide unique entertainment experiences for his fans and patrons.
