Man Dead After Shootout With Police at Indiana Casino

A man was fatally shot by police officers at an Indiana casino after a confrontation early Saturday morning. The incident began when law enforcement received a call around 1am reporting a man carrying a knife and chasing a woman at the Hollywood Casino Hotel in Lawrenceburg.

Upon learning that the suspect had fired a gun on the fourth floor of the property, officers confronted him in a hallway. Despite their commands to drop his weapon, the man began shooting at the police, prompting them to return fire and strike him at least once.

The victim’s identity has not been released pending official identification and notification of next of kin. While the Lawrenceburg Police Department officers emerged unharmed from the incident, one individual at the casino did sustain minor injuries during the suspect’s attack.

A nearby resident who witnessed the chaotic scene described it as being filled with ambulances, police cars, and fire trucks, likening it to a spectacle reminiscent of the Fourth of July.

This is not the first time the Indiana casino has been involved in a serious incident. In a previous robbery attempt in March, a man armed with a gun attempted to rob the cashier cage and took a hostage as he tried to flee. Authorities were able to track him down in a nearby forest with the help of K-9 units, a drone, and a helicopter.
