The sports betting landscape in Ohio has recently seen a shakeup with the exits of Betfred and SuperBook, leaving the Cincinnati Bengals and F.C. Cincinnati without sportsbook partners. Both Betfred and SuperBook made the decision to discontinue their sports betting operations in Ohio, leaving the two major league franchises in a lurch.
Betfred was the official online sports betting partner for the Bengals, while SuperBook operated both online and retail services for F.C. Cincinnati. SuperBook closed its Ohio operations on July 19, with Betfred set to follow suit on August 14. Despite both franchises being licensed to offer sports betting until 2028, neither the Bengals nor F.C. Cincinnati have commented on their plans to fill the void left by their former partners.
The departure of Betfred and SuperBook has also impacted other major league franchises in Ohio. The Cleveland Cavaliers and Columbus Crew have also been left without online sports betting partners after Fubo and Tipico exited the market. The Cavaliers have since found a replacement for their retail sports betting operations with Caesars Sportsbook, but the Crew remains without a partner since Tipico’s exit in late June.
In a similar situation, the Cincinnati Reds lost their online sports betting partner BetMGM, who transferred their operations to MGM Northfield Park. While BetMGM continues to be the Reds’ retail sports betting partner, the team has yet to launch a new online partnership with Underdog Sports.
As the Bengals and F.C. Cincinnati navigate the fallout from their former sportsbook partners, it remains to be seen if they will rush to secure new deals like their counterparts in Ohio. The changing landscape of sports betting in the state has left several major league franchises scrambling to find new partners and adapt to the evolving market conditions.
