Flutter Entertainment is undergoing a restructuring of its operations, with the UK & Ireland Chief Executive Ian Brown set to step down at the end of the year. Kevin Harrington will be taking over the role in January, transitioning from his current position as the chief executive of PokerStars. Harrington has been with Betfair since 2012 and has worked his way up through the company ranks.
As part of the restructuring, Flutter Entertainment is consolidating all of its non-US divisions under one umbrella. The newly formed Flutter International will include operations in Brazil, Central & Eastern Europe, Southern Europe & Africa, Asia-Pacific, and the UK & Ireland. This move is aimed at streamlining the company’s expansive operations and creating a more cohesive organizational structure.
During his two-year tenure as the head of UK & Ireland operations, Ian Brown focused on horse racing and highlighted the challenges facing the industry, stating that the sport is becoming increasingly unprofitable for sportsbooks. Despite these challenges, Brown expressed pride in the company’s performance, noting that they have gained market share by investing in customer innovation and their employees.
In anticipation of his departure, Brown reflected on his time with the company, emphasizing the company’s achievements in a competitive market. Flutter Entertainment CEO Peter Jackson commended Brown for his successful leadership, acknowledging the transformation of the UK & Ireland business under his guidance.
Overall, the restructuring of Flutter Entertainment’s operations signifies a strategic shift towards greater efficiency and alignment across its various divisions. With the appointment of Kevin Harrington as the new UK & Ireland Chief Executive, the company is poised to continue its growth and success in the global gaming industry.
