A table games supervisor at a Macau casino was caught red-handed stealing casino chips using sticky tape. The 56-year-old employee had been working at the unnamed casino in Zape since 2007 and robbed chips at least four times, worth HK$400,000 (US$51,323).
The property management grew suspicious of the employee’s actions following three incidents last month while she was working. They informed the police that they believed a worker was stealing chips and putting them in her trousers before hiding them in her locker during breaks.
The Judiciary Police followed up on the allegations by surveilling the worker. Officers witnessed her stealing a HK$100,000 (US$12,831) chip from a roulette table on Sunday and apprehended her. Despite her refusal to cooperate with the authorities, police found sticky tape on the palm of her hand, which they believe she used to lift the chips from the table without drawing attention to herself. She will be facing a charge of aggravated theft for her actions.
